COMMON Pitch Milwaukee: American Innovation

So many of you are making a difference in the Milwaukee area as well as globally. You’re changing the way the world views water by doing things like creating new approaches to water infrastructure, studying the effects of plankton in Lake Michigan, and finding creative ways to educate the public about the importance of water in our daily lives. Here at the Water Council we think it’s important that your ideas, solutions and innovations get heard. That is why we want to share with you an exciting opportunity to showcase your skills in front of a panel and compete for cash and other startup resources.

COMMON Pitch Milwaukee is a non-traditional pitch event hosted this June during Milwaukee Innovation Week. Events will be cohosted by COMMON, a creative community for accelerating social change, and MiKE, an economic development initiative launched by the Greater Milwaukee Committee.  The event will feature live music, opportunities for collaboration, and a stage for selected applications to share the way they are bringing innovation to America. COMMON Pitch Milwaukee is currently receiving submissions until May 18. According to the COMMON Pitch website,

We’re on the hunt for eight promising startups working hard to redefine business in America. The best candidates will represent products or services that improve on (or completely reinvent) an existing American industry, helping to make it more sustainable, more profitable, more community oriented, more ethical – and maybe even more fun.

If accepted, candidates will have the opportunity to publicly share their product or service on  stage to a panel of judges and a digital audience of thousands. Contestants will be competing for cash, prizes, and a suite of services to help accelerate their startups. Candidates will also receive mentoring, preparatory support, lots of free media, and will join an international community of COMMON Pitch alumni. So don’t wait to sign up! The deadline is in three weeks on May 18!
